Travel Mexico! And especially Mexico City (sometimes D. F. stand for Federal District). It's impossible to get to know the country without visiting its capital. Some 20 million people live here and it's believed to be the greatest city in the world. It was erected on the remains of Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec country. The city will surprise you, if you choose to take pleasure here, with its rich historic life, archaeological places, superb night life and admirable sightseeings.
The Plaza de la Constitucion or the Zocalo built for four centuries is the historic centre of the city, though enormous, but gets crowded in the evenings and at the weekends. The huge-sized Mexican flag flutters in the air above the Plaza. The ceremony of taking it on and down is very popular. By the square you will see the Catedral Metropolitana, the King's Chapel, the Great Temple, the National Palace that is the seat of the President of Mexico. Mexico City is extremely rich in museums. They are the National Museum of Anthropology with the Calendar or Sun Stone of Aztec weighing 24 tons, the Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Frida Kahlo.
The Alameda Park is an old Aztec park near the Zocalo. Paseo de la Reforma is known as the city's cultural, business and fashion centre and 'Latin Manhattan'. There is a huge park, the Chapultepec Park, rich in attractions, the green oasis of the industrial city.
Mexico City is not only a store of history, culture, finance, business, but as well many educational establishments are located here, including one of the world's oldest university, the University City now situating in a significant complex of architecture in Pedregal Square.
You can get around the city using metro, buses or trolley buses, taxis, metro buses, but take care and don't use public transport or walk out at night. Try and avoid driving in Mexico city. The traffic is really heavy. Tired of sightseeing? There are wonderful amusement parks: Six flags Mexico, La Feria de Chapultepec; or do some shopping at huge malls, couture stores on Presidente Mazaryk street or ethnic shops.
The city is renowned for not only a great and piquant Mexican cuisine, but for an international one (it is easy to find any cuisine you want). Have a delicious dinner on the 45th floor of the World Trade Centre and enjoy the fabulous sunset sight of this outstanding city!
