While Porfirio Diaz's being in power Mexican art experienced its worst times. There was revolution in everyday life of Mexico, and as well in art. Among art revolutionists were Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco and David Alfaro Siqueiros, the well-known muralists all over the world (painters that create their masterpieces, sometimes called frescos, on a wall, outside or inside a building).And Dr. Atl, Gerardo Murillo, is believed to be one of the leading figure in the artistic revolution as he helped it to grow and make it, he supported a lot of then unknown artists, e.g. Diego Rivera who with other Mexican artists created the Syndicate of Technical Workers, Painters, and Sculptors. Diego Rivera was the husband of the prominent Frida Kahlo whose paintings played a leading role in the making of the Renaissance of Mexico, she used folk Mexican features.
The painters lived in the beginning of the previous century created their pieces in neomexicanism.
There is a special 'family' museum, House of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera in San Angel.
Mexico is rich in museums, art-galleries, art centres, exhibitions, especially Mexico City. Among the most favourite and famous places are Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonse hosting a lot of muralist paintings, Centro de la Imagen arranges photo exhibitions, conferences, etc.
One of the most popular places of interest is the National Museum of Anthropology having the biggest collection of ancient remains, special Oaxaca and Maya and Aztec halls.
